Though I don’t smoke, and never have, I do remember smoking candy cigarettes as a child. So clearly they weren’t addictive nor did they implant the desire to move up from bubble gum to tobacco for me. The alternative is hilarious

I’d probably have lectured my kids about not smoking, but still have let them eat them. And that’s only because I have a major aversion to smoking, to the point that I’m pretty sure I need counseling. lol

I remember those! I used to love them even though they tasted kind of… meh. I used to get the Popeye ones. (I *know*. I didn’t know popeye was a smoker either.) They looked like dry toothpaste with a little red blob on the end.

They had no effect on me. I don’t smo… Oh. Wait. I do.

I can't say I'd be thrilled if my kid got them, but they did get these Flintstone "candy sticks" that were damned close to looking like candy cigarettes. And know what my kids did with them? Pretended to light up. We dont' even smoke. The candy didn't say they were cigarettes. But they could figure it out. Face it, if it isn't a candy cigarette, it'll be a pencil. Or a straw, or something else. Kids like to pretend. And, if that mom was pissed, I can only imagine what she'd do if you gave her kid a Reeses PB cup if he was a peanut-allergy person. too bad there are a few commenters who have no sense of humor. my grandfather died this year from lung cancer as he had smoked his whole life.
