Guest Post: Anissa and IronMan

  • October 9th, 2008 12:00 am

(Kicking off my break for blogging will be Anissa from Hope4Peyton , 5 Minutes for Special Needs, and many other places.  In 2006, Anissa’s youngest daughter, Peyton, was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. If you are interested in donating to Peyton’s fund or helping her in any way, you can click here. Anissa is a busy lady, a smart lady, and she is hilarious, which is why I am delighted to have her as a guest poster. She’s got the funnys. )

Oh HAI! You don’t know me?

Came here expecting all sorts of shameless sassiness, didn’t you?

Well, I’m made of shameless. And sassy? I eat sassy for breakfast.

Yeah.

So now what?

In all honesty, when Amanda asked me to guest post for her site I was all “whooo hoooo!”, which was quickly followed by a healthy dose “oh hell, what do I write about now?”

Then I realized that I had something very important to write about.

Iron Man.

Iron Man? The movie? With Robert Downey Jr? You might ask.

Yes, Iron Man.

Can I just tell you exactly how much I hate the fact that I wildly anticipated this movie all summer, only to simmer in resentment that my husband took my two oldest children to see it on a weekend I couldn’t go and I never got to see it….but it never stopped them from going on and on about how cool it was, how fun it was, how it was full of the awesome….and then I really got my bitter on because I wouldn’t have even cared if a movie called Iron Man came out if I wasn’t married to the biggest comic-head in the world…who couldn’t even be bothered to wait on me to go see the movie….the movie for which I had to listen to endless back story and character analysis…and whether the X-men could take the Avengers…I think we all know the answer to that one, don’t we?…which made me want to gouge my eyes out with a Tootsie pop…but I listened because I love him and he gets so much enjoyment of sharing his childhood love with me…even though that childhood love is the bane of my existence because there must be 15 boxes of comic books blocking up space where I could store stuff….like hurricane supplies…or shoes.

Longest run-on sentence ever. I win!

Anyways.

This movie represents the reason why my husband got the best wife EVER!

Because I will feign complete interest in something, just because he gets excited about it, and the next thing you know…I’m hooked.

Fantasy football.

Mac computers.

Superhero movies.

Video games.

Battlestar Galactica.

Poker.

The absolute necessity of the Tivo.

Why does he DO this to me? I don’t want to like these things. I’m perfectly capable of coming up with my own time-sucking obsessions. Look how well I’ve done with Grey’s Anatomy, Ikea and this whole blogging thing.

I fear there’s a real possibility that one day we’ll wake up, he’ll take one look at me, and scream one of those freakishly high-pitched panic screams that makes all the urine in your bladder try to rush out without thought of actual proximity to a toilet.

Because I will have transformed into what he has made me.

Him.

With boobs.

Which might be ok with him.

But is that ok with me?

I don’t think so.

(If you haven’t had your full feel of Anissa, this link leads to a lovely post at her own site. It is one of my favorites.)

haha - that is funny! II totally get the ‘feign interest in something and end up liking it’ that would definitely be me and the hubs. I don’t want to be crazy about every gizo and gadget he comes up with, but somehow he sells it to me and I’m hooked. Oh well, hopefully he won’t notice what he’s turned me into !

Are you sure we’re not married to the same guy? if so, he must be exhausted going back and forth. Actually, mine isn’t so much into the comic books but he does get me hooked on a lot of things including several of those you listed. Hubby bought the Ironman DVD. We hope to watch it soon!

Actually, I think the longest sentence is somewhere in A Tale of Two Cities. But yours comes close!

I love it!!!! You will definitely need to see Ironman. It is awesome!!!! As for being your husband with boobs, my husband and I were best friends for three years before dating and then getting married. I always said he was a male me. Ha-ha!!!

Another funny thing, I checked my email today and had one from you and then all the sudden you are the guest post for today on this blog. What are the odds?!?!? :)

You have a blessed day and thanks for the post.

I do this, too! My husband has hooked me on some of the STUPIDEST Stuff.

    I watch South Park now…

And it’s all his fault. Not to mention all those other cartoons on Fox Sunday nights, that I really want to hate, but can’t anymore.

And there’s Zombie movies - I NEVER saw a zombie movie until he came along. Now I’m an expert.

    I’ll stop now…

Crud, I think it ate my comment!

My husband does this, too. All sorts of things I never would have paid attention to. Like - I watch South Park now, and all those cartoon on Fox Sunday Nights that I REALLY want o hate, but I can’t…

And Zombie movies - I had NEVER watched a Zombie movie before I met him, and now I’m practically an expert!!

And I’ve started acting like him, too. Grrr….

I use to make fun of a certain friend who isn’t married or even boyfriend-ed and because of that she turns into the perfect woman for any given man that she meets and takes a liking to. It’s sort of sickening but then one day I looked around and I found myself liking a bunch of stuff I’d normally hate…if it weren’t for my husband.
Isn’t it funny that we say we will change them and then it’s really us who change?

My theory is as you grow older - you turn into him and he turns into you. That is how you stay in love and continue to like each other.

Oh, goodness, I freakin’ loved Iron Man. All three times I saw it. And I’ll get to see it again with my older two kids tonight.

My husband and I have started melding, too. I answer the phone exactly like him. He’s started liking my music. It’s all very, very strange, but I must confess that I like it. :)
