First Kisses.
- September 29th, 2008 5:02 pm
When I was in middle school, I went to my first boy-girl party. It truly fit the stereotypical first boy-girl party scenario that you see so often in television shows. It was in the basement of one of my friend’s houses, and a large portion of the lights were off. Most people were focused on how they were going to go about kissing their boyfriends or girlfriends. There was a variety of 2-Liters of pop, chips, and cookies.
As for the game plan for the night, we all had some premeditated kissing to do. The majority of my friends and I had never “french” kissed a boy. So as a whole, that was the goal for the night (outside of a haphazard game of spin the bottle). It’s amusing now, how much time that the idea of kissing a boy took up in all of our heads. I wonder how many hours my friends and I would spend on the telephone debating who would be getting kissed or what it would be like. I wonder how many hours I spent sneaking to read copies of YM to find out what kissing was like.
When it comes to that night, I remember most things. The way my friend’s basement smelled like carpet and pet shampoo. The fact that I wore a black shirt with a huge blue petaled flower on it, and at the center of the flower was a smiley face. I also had a cloth scrunchy on my wrist with smiley faces all over it. In addition to the smiley face attack, I had on brand new lipgloss. It was of the melon variety. The sort that comes in a tiny tub that you have to dig your finger in and get a clump out to rub on your lips. I always got a small bit of it stuck beneath my fingernails, and it was very waxy, tasted sort of rank, but certainly shined up my young lips.
My “boyfriend” at the time was a major goon. (I think douche would be the modern day term for what he is and was.) He had a strange laugh that sort of sounded like a flock of honking geese. He said obviously inappropriate boy things while frequently committing his loud, honking laugh to all of his own jokes. Though to be fair, I suppose that all around we were both rather awkward.
We had a matching set of braces. They were likely adorned with mutlicolored bands that alternated in colors. Red, White, Red, White. Our school colors. I remember worrying that the braces would get stuck together like I had heard about in the magazines for preteens and young teens. What if they did? And they wouldn’t come apart? And I had to call my mom? To tell her that I got my braces caught on some other boys WHILE KISSING HIM?
(Here’s a visual of the braces for you. AWKWARD.)
At some point that night, after many of my friends had already decided to go for their first kiss. We all went in turns, and looking back, that makes it even funnier. The fact that we took turns so that we could witness the first kiss of everyone else. Soon, it was my turn.
While sitting on the porch swing on the small stoop off of my friend’s basement, the Goon went in for the kill. He stuck his tongue in my mouth for a few minutes making creepy stabbing motions with it, drooled, and hummed what I swear to this day was ‘Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star’. It goes without saying that I was pretty much scarred for life after such a horrible experience. The only saving factor was that we didn’t manage to get our braces caught together.
It was sort of awkward after that. I was slightly terrified that I had just kissed some guy who thought that it was appropriate to hum nursery rhymes while laying a kiss on someone. So when the super douche went to school that Monday and told my best friend that my lip gloss tasted nasty, I was more than angry. Our torrid, young like affair ended soon after that.
But that’s how my first kiss came about. It was terrible. Tell me about yours.

Mine was with my neighbor, Chris. He was moving in a week from Washington to Colorado, I had snuck in into my room and we were laying on my bed and he just started kissing me. This went on every night until the night before he moved. I wasn’t ready to have sex, as it was the summer between 6th and 7th grade (but all of our friends were already doing it) so I didn’t go out side with him when he shone the flashlight in my bedroom window.
Seems like so long ago!

My first kiss came about in a parked car during the summer between 8th grade and High School. We had just moved into a new neighborhood and I was in 7th heaven. In a matter of 4 weeks I had met and started going out with 4 different girls. Pat Z. was the first - and the first kiss - in the back seat of her older brother’s car. I’m not going to tell you the whole embarrassing thing - let’s just say that a french kiss from a bosomy young woman at 14 years of age can be an explosive experience. That was a first, too. And an only.

Ugh. my first *real* kiss was with a boy name Dustin. At the park, at night, on the slide. And I swear, his tongue was darting in and out like a frickin lizard. {{shudders}} I made him stop and take me home. (but first I made him buy me a smoothie. crafty, I know.)

My best friend from the grade 5 through to High School was a guy named Adam Beck. Outside of my husband, he was the love of my life. He had strawberry blonde hair cut in the super stylish “bowl cut” you know the one where it’s shaved underneath. He was short and had freckles but was just like me. We both grew up in the “oh my God you live there” area of town and our single mom’s both chose their revolving door of boyfriends over us. Adam slept at my house pretty much every night. Yep that’s right I was in the 5th grade with a guy in my bed because I’m classy like that! Although he slept with me every night Adam didn’t lay the tongue on me until the summer between 5th and 6th grade while playing a game of truth or dare. Turns out after that we did a lot of kissing! Until he broke my heart and took some dirty pirate whore to grade 8 grad instead of me!

I very first kiss was behind my parents garage when I was 8 or 9. This totally dates me, but I was Princess Leah and He was Han Solo. It was very 80s.
I think my first french kiss was some awful kid that is in jail now so I won’t even mention him. I prefer to remember Lea and Han.

A sweet boy named Eric. I was in seventh grade and he was in sixth. My parents didn’t know it, but I was going to his house instead of to band practice (naughty!). We were in his bedroom and he just leaned over the bed, grabbed my chin, and kissed me. It was very sweet. In retrospect, he was clearly much more experienced than I was.
And…last I heard, this sweet young man was in jail for dealing drugs.
Life. Isn’t it grand?

I’m horrible when it comes to remembering details, but I DO remember that my first kiss happened in 9th grade. The guy’s name was Dave and I guess he was fairly decent. Cute, very tall, and dark wavy hair. Also he was on the soccer team… yum. One thing, though: he had a rather large nose. Not enough so that it was like “OH my God! Look at his nose!” but rather, just a noticeable feature. So, upon our first kiss, he breathed on me. A Lot. Through his nose (obviously). It was kinda like being in a wind tunnel. I very loud wind tunnel. And it sounded like I was on the receiving end of an obscene phone call. Dunno what ever happened to him but I guarantee I could find out in a matter of less than 6 degrees of Facebook.

Oh - am with you on the grossness factor. My first “REAL” kiss was in 9th grade (pathetic, I know). It was so slobbery and nasty, that I went home and told my sister (younger by 2 yrs) that she should NEVER EVER French kiss anyone, because it was disgusting!!!
LOL I’ve since changed my mind…

Apparently I’m like the ONLY person in the whole blogosphere who was out of high school by the time I got my first kiss. I was kind of glad to keep that whole part of my life on hold until then. I started dating my husband almost right out of high school and our first kiss was totally amateur and sloppy, but still sweet. I have fond memories of it.
I’m kind of glad to have only kissed him. At least we both got better at it and stayed together to reap the benefits!

Ohhhh man…. mine was the day before halloween in 7th grade. I was “dating” a boy named “Charlie” or “Chuck”. Everyone told me he was going to kiss me that day- (it was a Friday) but I didn’t know when. RIght when school got out, he walked over to my classroom, threw out his “WintOgreen” lifesaver (I saw him take it out and throw it) then went in for the kill. He too, dod the darting in and out effect. I was scarred. It was awful. EVERYONE saw it- and everyone thought he and I were so cool. Until my best friend kissed her boyfriend 30 min. later. Then she was cool!

Me and the preacher’s son, 8 years old…snuck out of the evening service and kissed in front of the church….in the shadow of the CROSS! When I realized where we were I convinced myself for weeks that God was going to strike me down for making out in front of the cross. Luckily, no such striking down happened. And would you believe that 26 years later I’m married to a preacher’s son…not the same preacher’s kid….but I have a thing for those wild boys!

I had my first kiss at a park in my neighborhood. My best friend and I went to meet these two guys we had seen the day before while riding our bikes around the area. When we met the two guys at the park, there was this fence you could jump and you could walk along a canal away from the park and stay out of sight of any parents. So we hopped the fence, and just when we got out of sight both of the guys went for it. Ryan gave me a quick peck and then went back for more, shoving his tongue down my throat. I didn’t know what to do, I couldn’t really give him tongue back, his ginormous tongue was occupying my entire mouth. I was kinda shocked honestly. I was thinking, this is what its all about? After about 10 minutes of this, my friend and I had to leave (we told our parents we were riding our bikes around the block, we were 12 at the time). The next day, Ryan called and asked why I didn’t give him any tongue back. I don’t remember what I said exactly, something to blow it off like it wasn’t a big deal. Needless to say, I didn’t go back and meet him anymore after that.

My first kiss was stolen by my best friend’s older (by two years) brother when I was in 6th grade. We were in Lauren’s backyard playing with her dogs when her brother and his friends came out side, all loud and stuff. They thought they were so cool, being older and all. Oh and they were, especially Justin.
So they are all flocking around Lauren because she was the prettiest girl in our class, and probably in their class too. But Justin comes over to me and is all “Hey there, I’m an older guy. I’m in eight grade, and you’re in sixth grade. You would be cool if you dated a guy like me. And I would be uncool but still I might get some…or something. Dude.” And of course I was all “Heeheheheheheheehe….ok!” And then all of the sudden he’s on top of me!. Ok, not really, but all of the sudden his tongue was in my mouth. And I didn’t like it. Not.One.Bit.
And then once I opened my eyes suddenly everyone was there, watching. It sucked badly. I later heard that he decided against dating me because he didn’t want to kiss someone with braces.

OMG - first kiss stories are too funny! I can’t say mine was any different (or better) than the previous entries - guess I thought I was the special recepient of that horrible first moment!
haha
I was in 6th grade and he was in 8th grade - we were in a bean bag chair and he leaned in and kissed me, but he kept his mouth open so big that it was like he was trying to eat my face…drool was everywhere, I kept trying to open my mouth wider, but no matter what I did his mouth was like the size of my face. I’m guessing that is probably why I have such an aversion to kissing now…scarred for life!

OMG!! My first kiss was awful, yet so cool! I was going out with Ronnie, who was a grade younger than I and he was in 7th grade. He was so cool, and it was socially accepted and even applauded that I date him, even if he was younger. Did I mention how cool he was? Seriously! We were at a party, and I believe there was a keg there, although at this point I was still good and didn’t do things like drink myself to oblivion at keg parties. I saved that for high school, damnit.
He leaned over, gently put his lips to mine … and proceeded to be the worst kisser ever in the history of the world. It was like he was trying to wash out my mouth or something, and just like yours, Amanda, he hummed!! WTF????
Luckily, I found myself a man that I still enjoy kissing, almost 7 years later. Ahhhhh …

My first kiss was actually very sweet. It was the last day of 8th grade, and we were all so excited to be highschoolers the following year. Travis and I were just friends, but we were close. We’d spent the entire day at Splashtown, a school sponosored event in which the 8th graders got to flaunt around in various styles of swimwear for the day. After Splashtown, our parents were supposed to pick us up. Well, as usual my parents were MIA, so Travis’s dad took me to his house with him until my mom got off of work.
Travis and I were in his dad’s game room, complete with pool table, darts, an ancient juke box, and old worn out furniture. Travis and his dad were BIG TIME rednecks. Not that I have anything against that, they just were, and therefore, the room had it’s fair share of antlers and animal heads. We were sitting on the oldest couch I’d ever seen, eating jolly ranchers and listening to ooooold country on the juke box, when a slow Patsy Cline song came on. Travis jumps up, and gallantly asks me to dance with him. YIPEE!!! My first slow dance! I choked a little on the jolly rancher that flew down my throat at my excitement, as I placed my clammy hand into his in a ver polite and perfectly adult approved slow dance.
The next thing I know, I have both arms around his neck, while his hands rested on my hips. The next few moments were super slow motion, and all senses were heightened to great proportions. I remember the way his breath smelled of cherry jolly rancher, I remember Patsy’s twangy whine about being “Crazy”, and I remember the sound of our breathing in the kind of hushed pant that always came when nerves were heightened to fear.
His grey eyes focused in on mine, slowly drifting between my lips and my eyes, as he slowly licked his lips. The next thing I know, his mouth is on mine, and our tongues are slow dancing along with the music. The dream-like atmosphere drifted away and reality slammed into me like a freight train! I jerked back, shaken and afraid I’d drooled or didn’t do it right, and found his cherry jolly rancher in my mouth. The look of utter shock and bewilderment on my face must have ticked him because Travis chuckled under his breath at me.
“What? You’ve never kissed anyone before?” he asked me still chuckling at my now emblazened face.
“N-n-no.” I stammered back, sucking furiously on his jolly rancher.
“Well, you’re good!” He grinned impishly back at me, “Wanna do it again?”
And thus my first kiss, the beginning of lots of kisses to follow, and yet, the first kiss will forever be the sweetest, as two young kids, discovering the art for the first time.

I was 14 and a freshman in high school. I was crushing hard on my older brothers friend who was the drummer in their band. He had that whole hotness factor because he could play guitar and drums plus he was all mysterious and talked through his sultry eyes and sexy smile. I was so smitten.
I tagged along during band practice and during a break, my man said he needed to get something out of his car and told me to come outside with him.
Now I see it was his sly way of getting me alone.
I stood against his car while he rifled through his car doing whatever and then he leaned against me pulling his fingers through my hair, staring intently into my eyes and then brought my face to his and kissed me.
I felt like I was in love. It was perfect and half way through I realized I was having my first kiss and I started to get butterflies but it went away and I enjoyed my makeout session.

I definitely remember my first kiss. It was so special. I was 13 and been “going with” this boy for about a year. We had talked about it several times, but we were both too scared to do it. Finally one night after a school basketball game we walked outside into the cool night air. We were both chewing gum. Mine was wacky-fruit and his was grape. We came closer together, nervous, but ready. The air was cold around us, but the closer we got together I remember the warmer I felt. It is like we were just melting together. We parted our lips and experimented with our tongues and it was the most pleasurable experience that I had ever felt. The blended taste of our mixed gums even heightened the experience. I will never, ever forget my first kiss. It was absolutely amazing. I still think about him to this day (Not like that!!! Just hoping that he made the right decisions in life and that he is happy). Since then, I have married an awesome man and I share first kisses (it feels like) a lot. I absolutely love my hubby and am so thankful for him and the chance to have “first kisses” throughout my lifetime with him.
