I Can Haz Nuggetz: A Fast Food How-to

In order to continue keeping it real, I have something to admit. Sometimes, I let my daughter eat fast food. Yes, that’s right. Fast Food. I know it’s something most mommy bloggers keep under wraps. No one is ever chatting it up about how many fries their kid ate last week. And no, my daughter doesn’t eat every day or even every week.
It’s not that I think everyone is feeding it to their child. But it’s just that no one talks about it or admits to it.
But sometimes, I do let Allie eat nuggets and french fries. Judge if you must.
Because not only do I let her eat it, sometimes I let her eat it in the car. And I have some methods for it. A tutorial, if you will:
Now, if you will admit to going through the fast food drive thru, you probably know that the nuggets and fries are usually hot. But don’t worry, cooling them is quite easy.
First, you must crank up the AC.
And then, do the unspeakable. Stick a nugget in the air vent slot. Yep. That’s right. it in the slot.
If you’re feeling like you should be efficient, put two in the vents. That’s right, two!
While we’re at it, does this look like a face to you?
Now, don’t stop with the nuggets. If you’re really naughty, you’ll stick some fries in there too.
Hopefully, none of yours will try to escape like the fry in the picture below.
But finally, after the ridiculously hot food cools, you can (if you choose) give them to your child.

I, too, feed fries and nuggets to my kids. Usually, though, they’re dipping them in their chocolate frosty from Wendy’s (just to add a bit more naughtiness to the whole shebang - hey - we’re livin’ on the edge).
Good idea with the AC. I usually just hold our fries up to them, but now I have new options, thanks!

My kid won’t take the nugget UNTIL I’ve put it in my AC vent!!
I find that I enjoy the crispy outside of a McD’s nugget but the chicken seems more real at Wendy’s!!

Holy crap - no joke we did this Sunday night at Sonic because the food was like nuclear hot. I told the kids it was the advanced method of blowing on it without the dizzy, face going numb side effect..
You must also master the eat the burger while driving and staring straight ahead even when a pickle slice falls in your lap - avoid all sudden movements at all costs.

DAMN! You are one clever mama! I used to do the cooling down with the air con thing but I would take a ceramic bowl and put the nuggets in it and hold it over the vent. While driving.

I am a big fan of eating in the car. Going to the zoo? McD’s..eat it in the car! Going shopping? EAT IN THE CAR! Never have I tried the vent thing..I usually hold it in front while I’m driving..(waiting for someone to tell me I’m endangering my children)
Who would deprive their children some McD’s?! I grew up on it..my son LOVES it..People are too uptight these days!

Owen does NOT eat meat. Except McDonald’s Chicken Nuggets. When he will not gag down another bean or egg or bit of hummus, when he turns his nose at tuna and absolutely refuses one more spoonful of peanut butter, do I load up the kids and take them to the Bad place? you bet your ass I do. I also love me some McD’s cheeseburgers. Yep, I admit it too.

Two reasons why I can’t follow the tutorial (because you know I so want to)
1. My vents slots are not big enough to accomadate a chicken nugget (Should I take the next car thru the drive thru to get a nugget and check for compatiablity?)
2.Thankfully the girls are old enough to take care of hot food themselves in the car. (When they get it that is, they complain that there is a sore lack of fast food going on at my house)

I never actually stuck one in the vent, but I have held them up in front of the A/C to cool them.
A LOT of moms feed their kids fast food once in a while. I don’t like feeding it to my son, but some days it’s either eat fast food in the car on the go, or don’t eat.
You’re a good mom, at least you cooled them down!

I’ve tried to do that in my car but my vents are too narrow and the nuggest don’t fit. So I roll the windows down instead and hold ‘em out the window to cool. So what if it picks up a few june bugs at the same time? They’re extra protein.

I needed this memo like 5 years ago.
I have been holding that damn nugget against the windows. My husband complains about all the grease marks on our windows so I encourage the kids to place stickers over the windows.

This is the funniest thing I have seen in a very, very long time. I’ve never even thought about putting nuggets, much less french fries in air vents! You should put a disclaimer on your images, though, something like “Do not try this if you haven’t cleaned your car in a week…or a month.”

Hmmm. Getting the smell out of the vehicle when the nuggett falls down the vent is a tricky flaw to the system.
I built a contraption in my old vehicle to deflect the air to the hot McDonalds coffee when I worked near the Golden Arches. It worked well, when I had a limited time to wolf down the coffee on my break.

Ooh! I’ve never done this for nuggets and fries but I should!
This trick also works well when you leave a container of Blistex in your car and it’s too goopy to put on your lips because the sun has heated it up to 1000 degrees. It also works on gum you leave in your car that gets too hot and immediately disintegrates in your mouth if you attempt to chew it.
I live in South Florida… everything gets hot in my car.

OMG that brings back memories! I used to use the AC to cool the fast food all of the time since we lived in the car.
The bad news is my kids are too old for me to do that anymore. The good news is that now they go pick up fast food and bring it to me!

Wow. First of all, the Windows-Paint-ed pictures are hilarious. And Secondly, wow, I had no idea anyone did that but from the comments, it looks like a lot of people do! Please tell me you didn’t take those pictures of the nugglies (as we call them) while driving? Although I must admit I’m a definite text-driver/iPod changer driver, so I guess I have no room to speculate on the technological driving habits of others. =)

My kids wish I would let them eat fast food every day…and sometimes I wish it too. Life would be easier. For a little while anyway.

I never thought to actually use the vents to hold the nuggets and/or fries for cooling! Such a much safer option than driving with my knees while stuffing a Big Mac in my mouth and holding the nuggets and/or fries in front of the vent!
