Exciting Giveaway: Enter now. :)

  • June 16th, 2008 1:46 am

When I was younger, I had a gameboy. And for me, life did not get more exciting than the gameboy. In fact, it was the only thing I loved more than candy cigarettes. I played Tetris and Mario for countless hours. I would play until the 4 double A batteries secured in the back had met their demise. I’d still be playing it right now if it hadn’t been stolen.

To me, the Gameboy was by far the best hand held system. Until recently, when Nintendo sent a Nintendo DS for me, a pink DS, to boot. I drooled over it. It was so pretty and pearly looking. And the best part is that it was accompanied by the new CrosswordsDS game for the DS. Oh, how I love crossword puzzles.

And with the new swag, an old habit reappeared. The ability to play the product and be fully entertained for hours. The DS was easy to use with amazing features like the pen pad and the ability to talk with other DS users both verbally and through the written word. And the Crosswords game has all levels from beginners to experts.

The Crosswords game has over 1000 puzzles. If you aren’t into Crosswords, there are also wordfinds and anagrams.

Since the DS is portable, I played in the car and all around my house. Even on my toilet. (You really can play it anywhere, anytime.) Plus, the DS charges with an adapter. So unlike my old lover, the gameboy, I didn’t have to spring for Double A batteries every time the power was low.

The DS has a touch screen, a microphone, and a fancy little thing they call a stylus, but I call a pen. The colors on the screen are amazing and the games are entertaining. It’s fun for the whole family, even your grandmother would enjoy it.

It was like Christmas to my inner nerd. And my inner nerd loves Christmas.

The good news is that I am giving away two of the systems accompanied by two of the Crossword games. So two of you have a chance to receive a Nintendo DS and the Crosswords DS game.

In order to enter, you must:

Leave a comment  telling me your favorite video game. If you don’t have a favorite video game, enter with your favorite board game. I’ll put the names of all the entries into a giant bowl and draw out two winners. The giveaway ends at 12:00 pm on June 23. The winners will be drawn and announced that evening.

EDIT:  The winners will be drawn with random.org’s generator.   223 are way too many for me to put in a bowl and draw out! :)

Wow, you just brought back some serious old school memories! I loved my Gameboy. I was a big fan of Metroid and Legend of Zelda.

I always wondered about the new DS and if it was just as cool as the Gameboy back in the day… thanks for making me want one now :)

I am such a big fan of Gradius and Contra. It was just too bad that my brother and I had to fight over who gets to play first. Unfortunately, he always beats me at any game!

Anyway, I like it though when it’s a 2-player game. It means that we work together as a team. Playing as a team is so fun. I miss laughing with my brother whenever I make a little mistake by making my character fall off the cliff. Games for me doesn’t only mean playing alone, but playing with the people you love or sharing it with them.

Which reminds me, I just drool at the site of my friend’s DS. She always gets cool new gadgets! I get to play with it for a while but it dawned on me, oh, I wish it was mine! Lol!

LOL I don’t play any video games because they make me motion sick :o( But a video crossword sounds way cool! Hmmm so my favorite game will have to be a board game. I’d say my fav is, without a doubt, Pictionary. I don’t know if they even make it anymore but I love that game! It’s so hilarious. Like bowling, the worse you are the more fun it is.

Best game ever is Earthbound for SNES!!! LOL. I still have my SNES and still play it…it’s a silly RPG about a boy trying to save this imaginary world. The worst enemies are monsters like “New Age Retro Hippie” and the dialog is TERRIBLE. But at least he gets to eat a lot of cheeseburgers.

Ok well I’d say my fav video game MUST be Ms. Pac Man. Not the regular Pac Man… it the Mrs who did it for me. I also was capable of saving the princess in Mario Bros and could rock at Duck Hunt. I even had the Olympics thing with the power-pad.

If I had a DS, however, I’d be playing that Brain game, b/c Lord knows after two kids sucking away IQ points I could use some training. :)

OMG, how OLD am I? I played a lot of pong as a kid. Seriously. And we had some huge pixelized castle game where you had to get these keys and avoid the dragons and save the humanoid looking princess. Wish I could remember the name of that. But then the video games moved to the pizza place and this one guy could play Donkey Kong on one quarter all night. Kind of hated, kind of admired that guy.

I had an Atari as a kid. It wasn’t the regular Atari because it also had a computer so I could do some basic programming. And the graphics were better than the regular Atari. My favorite games were Missile Command and Frogger.

When the Nintendo came out I’d play Tetris for hours on end. I was addicted. One game would end, and I’d be like, “just one more game” until the sun came up and I had to go to work. I suffered many a morning of Tetris hangover.

I can’t play any games anymore, not even the Wii. My thumbs are both wrecked and I am sure it’s from the Tetris and Sonic and Rampart, but oh how I can still close my eyes and see the pieces falling into place.

Oh how I would love to win a DS of my own!!! My son NEVER lets me play his. I even bought Brain Age 2 for it, yet whenever I feel like playing it, he is always on it playing some Pokemon or Zelda game!

My favorite game when I was younger and had the first ever Gameboy was Dr. Mario. Hours on end of fun fun fun. I would sit and play it at the laundromat when I was first married at 18. I would play it waiting at the doctor’s office. I would play it anywhere the mood struck me. I might have been married, but I was still young and in love with my video games.

Nowadays I like games like Brain Age, and Tetris.
There is this game online called Peggle (I think it’s on PopCap) that is entirely too much fun. I spent the $19.95 to download it and I have mastered it already.

They didn’t have Gameboys when I was little, but Nintendo had just come out with its first game console that hooked to the TV and my little brother got it for Christmas. I remember when the first Atari system came out, too. And Commodore 64s, and oh God I’m old.

Anyway, to further date myself, my favorite video game when I was a teenager was, and still is to this day, Donkey Kong. My 7-year-old is currently saving money for a DS system, so it would be great to win one.

Well, I’m new to your sight and I don’t know why I haven’t been here yet because wozer….you’r pretty darn cool.

    (does kissing ass help win?)
By the way, have you lost weight and has anyone told you that you look like Angelina Jolie?

(I’m still kissing ass because my daughter would be happy that I got my own DS Lite because I’m always stealing hers!)

I mean this poor, neglected child. If not for me do it for this sweet angel of a girl would love you forever.

And I always try to win stuff and never do….it sucks (pity, in case you missed that!)

However, my favorite game ever is Super Mario Brothers. I am obsessed with that game. As a child, I played it nightly and finished the game 500X’s. My favorite board game is Clue. Because I like portraying Miss. Scarlett…..what??? She’s hot!

I’ll be back now….you are pretty cool. If you visit my blog…..I will put a “begging” picture up! Just for you!

When I was little, I had a ColecoVision, with a Cabbage Patch Kids game. I loved that game so much! There was also one with a skating penguin, I can’t remember what it was called.

I’m currently addicted to Guitar Hero on the Wii. I can’t stop playing it. The Wii keeps track of how long you play and I can’t even admit how long it was on Saturday, but it was an embarrassingly long time.

Without a doubt, it HAS to be Tetris. I was deprived as a child, and as a result, totally bogarted my friends’ NES systems when I was over at their houses to play, and am still disappointed that the system my boyfriend owns did NOT come with Tetris. However, there is Mario 3, so that is some consolation– it’s definitely a close second, which I think speaks to my lack of skill at video games that require depth perception and such. Oh! And, more recently, I have been loving Smarty Pants on the Wii…if only I had my own. :(

Although I can recall spending COUNTLESS hours playing Tetris my favorite old school game was Dr. Mario (or Oregon Trail for the PC…you have died of dysentery). If I had to pick a favorite current game it would be Sims online but I don’t allow myself to play it while I am in school because it consumes me!!
