Haiku Friday: Ode to Mommies of More Than One & Other.

February 14, 2008

haiku

So, so much to do,

in a short amount of time.

desperately need sleep.

I often wonder

how mothers of more than one

manage to function.

Particularly,

if the children are under

the weather. How? HOW?

A single ill child

absolutely wears me out.

You are wonder women.

————————————-

Shamelessly Sassy

is getting a make-over,

must learn how to code!

Trying to edit

is taking up posting time.

Need to finish soon!

But the good thing about 2 is they keep each other occupied. No more getting on the ground and playing legos all day!

Yeah, but 2 sick sucks. And 4 sick sucks donkey balls.

There is weird stuff happening! Eeek! It says you have 6 comments, but then says no comments yet.

I shall close my eyes and come back later and I bet it will look pretty and fixed.

Also? I need to know how to code, I want to tweak mine tonight too.

Hope your little one is feeling better soon.

I think that women who had an infant and a toddler have it the worst! I have twins, but they really aren’t that bad. Parenting is tough, regardless of how many children there are though. :) But I really lke this new look! I love the “Oh So Very” theme…it’s really cute. :D

  13. Sadia says:

You’re sweet. And I’m sorry your little one is sick. It sucks. I’ve never had one kid, since my girls are two minutes apart. It’s easier than you might imagine, except, as you so aptly point out, when they’re sick. I think the fact that they’re used to sharing Mommy’s attention at other times makes them easier sick babies. How I do it? Live in a neighbourhood with the most wonderful generous sweet people ever. I’ve knocked on my neighbour’s door more than once in the middle on the night so she can hold my babies while I wash vomit off myself.

  16. MommyCosm says:

In many ways, the second is much easier. Especially if you wait a few years in between and the older one becomes a little helper.
What’s not easier…when you have two struck with The Plague at the same time…THAT is when it is helpful to have my husband or MIL around to divide and conquer.
I guess I’ve learned after my second to ask for help more. Not an easy thing to do.

  21. Caution says:

It really gets better when they can make it to the bathroom in time. The way it seems to work with 4 kids is that they each get sick for 1 week. That means you get an entire month of sick for one little virus. It’s a math thing!

  22. janet says:

honey, i’ve got 5. the key, though, is to have them spaced waaaaaaaaaaay far apart!!

the first two are 2 1/2 years apart. that doesn’t work at all. after that, i have 5 and 6 years… that made ALL the difference! ;-)

    hope things get better.

I have 3 under 5 and it is absolutely the worst when they are sick. Especially all at once. You just have to keep telling yourself, “this too shall pass”. Well, that and having and IV drip of coffee directly into your veins.
    Hang in there!
