Hijacking Granny and Top Momma

So my husband has a new Granny. No, neither of his grandfathers have remarried. And no, none of his grandmothers start swinging the other way.
It just so happens that a couple months ago some random lady named Helen started emailing him and addressing him as her grandson. The emails started gradually. Usually, they were random forwards. If your grandma emails you, you know exactly what kind of forward I am referencing.
You know, the kind that usually has a giant basket full of kittens and flowers at the top, and then segues into a poem about having a nice Monday or not doing drugs.
Your great Aunt Cindy might even shoot them your way. While they’re cute to receive from your relative, you still have to know what I’m talking about.
My husband has taken what he thinks is the high road in this situation. Instead of emailing Helen to explain that that she has the wrong email, Adam just keeps in contact with her.
If you’re familiar with his other antics, this should not surprise you.
Often times, she will write little dedications to him at the top of them. Still, my husband has hijacked someone else’s Granny.
Yes, I’m serious.

So Funny!!!! I would probably do the same thing. However, one day the family is going to get together and Helen’s going to say something to her grandson like, “So dear, how is your wife and baby girl?”. And he’s going to look at her like she’s crazy and say, “Grammy Helen, you know I’m gay - we’ve had this discussion before”.

Sounds like a sweetie. I delete all forwards as a rule and it just occurred to me I may have missed the opportunity to hijack someone else’s relative.

hah. I have a similar problem. One of my old AIM names is similar to another girls. All this girls friends always IM me thinking I’m her. I’ve tried to tell them I’m not her, but they are all in high school and won’t believe me.

I think it is sweet that he is going along with all of it. She must be really happy to be getting mail back. My Mom and I adopted a Grammy once- she had no family and was always sitting alone at the Assisted Living my Grandma live(d) in. Now that my G-ma is gone- we still visit her, and bring her treats!!!

I get those e-mails from my step-mom. I usually don’t even open them because they’re a little too much for me to handle.
It’s nice of Adam to keep in contact with Helen, but what if she finds out? She’ll either be mortified or furious!

Could I maybe “borrow” your husband’s email address? My MIL loves sending me those emails and gets offended when I just immediately delete them. If he plays along and makes me look good, I’ll split the Christmas cash with him.

Ok, so I read about 5 of your posts out loud (I know how annoying - except they were yours - so it’s not that annoying) to my bff. I did this at work. I’m soo getting fired. You’re hysterical.
I don’t have a MIL. Not even close. Count my parents out. Inter-who? My parents don’t even have call waiting, let alone a computer. Maybe someone’s grandma will email me????

Awwww! How sweet is that! It’s like that Seinfeld where Elaine rents an apartment that was vacant because the grandma living there had recently died and her grandson keeps calling Elaine thinking she’s Grandma, so rather than tell the kid she’s dead she pretends she’s his Grandma.
Of course, your husband is WAYYYY nicer than Elaine since he isn’t bursting Grammie’s bubble the way Elaine eventually did. Heh.
And yeah, what is with the blinky/glittery flowers/cats/angels and cutsey HTML crap all over emails from some women? Then it usually says at the bottom something about, “Please send this to 10 more people and something good will happen to you soon! Please send on to more people and you will get love back in return! If you don’t SEND IT ON, IT WILL BE VERY BAD SO PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SEND THIS ON TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR YOU’LL BE SORRY! Jeez…it’s a tad scary. O_o
