A Seizure-Inducing,Fluorescent 8×10 of Jesus

  • December 3rd, 2007 12:00 am

If you’ve noticed by the new look around here, I love, love, love Christmas. My new header is from a picture I took of my tree last year. I just love the holidays and the festivities.

Although the actual day of Christmas is quite hectic for me since I inherited a bajillion relatives when I got married. I know I should be grateful that I get to go that many places and share the christmas cheer and blah blah blah *insert more bullshit about how grateful I should be*, but going that many places really is stressful.

It’s like, here at 12:00, there at 2:00, there at 4:00, there at 6:00, and so forth and so on.

(Note: Upon re-reading this, I noticed I had a complete mood changeat this exact point and festive transformed into feisty and possibly blasphemy. It’s your call I guess. Just roll with it if you want.)

Plus, I have to purchase presents for even more people. It isn’t the purchase of the present, but picking it out, that bugs me. I hate picking out gifts for people I barely know.

I was thinking this year I’d print out 8×10’s of Jesus, frame them, and dare everyone I gave them to, to shove them in the back of a closet like they do the rest of their gifts. (I’m totally kidding here.) I’m sure most of them would be keeping on top of their television or something in fear of being struck by lightening, but that in and of itself is a whole other story.

If I’ve offended you with this idea, I am sorry. But I know for a fact that is what would happen if you gave out 8 x 10’s of Jesus in bulk. Most of the people that I know are not going to be trashing it. They would probably keep it. Even it was in all fluorescent colors, and had a strobe light in the background. True Story. I mean, hell, they couldn’t return it?

(I started this post out so festive. But the heap of papers I have due this week creeped up in the corner of my brain and told me to knock it off.)

I should probably stop this post right now, because I’m sure if one of the devil’s minions employees at my ultra religious University somehow found this, I’d be out on my can.

I promise I’ll be on my best behavior tomorrow.

    Well, festive people suck.

Wow. I’m totally kidding. I love Christmas, and winter, and holidays, and snow, and cold. So be festive. C’mon, be it.

Got your blog off WWoW’s site, and I like you already, just because you say “…that isn’t my bag either.” Lovin’ it!!

We too do the nightmare run to one house @ 8AM, next house 10AM, next house 12PM, etc. Still LOVE the day but makes it WAY stressful for my hubby, He’d rather stay home but that’s not happening!!! My dad had a heart transplant 4 years ago and I figure every year is a gift - so we are going to go see him!! :-)

You are too funny! I’m with ya on the visiting everyone kick. I love to stay home in my p.j.s and watch my kids (4) enjoy their gifts. My family doesn’t live in the area, but my husband — who I’m separated from — always wanted to get together with his family on that day. I would much prefer to do a Christmas eve gathering or New Year’s day, but you know… An-t-way, I’m glad I stopped by.

I like the holidays too but sometimes when you think about all that has to go into it and can be a little draining. (Oh, BTW, I’m with you on the picking out gifts thing, too!)

LOL! I with you about the relatives. That’s why we moved 3000 miles to be on the other side of the country from them all :)….Now instead of fighting traffic for hours on an LA freeway, we send cards. Oh the joys of the holidays!
