Say No to Phil Collins

  • January 7th, 2008 10:52 pm

On the way home from dinner tonight, we were listening to a nationally syndicated radio show, Delilah. I’m not sure if you’re familiar with Delilah. In case you aren’t, it is a sappy type show where people call in and dedicate songs to people for various reasons that are usually coated in loads of sugar.

And that’s fine.

You see, my true beef with Delilah is her penchant for Phil Collins. It doesn’t matter what you call in for, a toothache, a break-up, maybe your lover turned out to be a big tranny? She will recommend Phil Collins. Generally, True Colors is her recommendation for anything.

Now, I’m not a true connoisseur in the world of music by the standards of many. I like any kind of music. I will listen to anything and everything, BUT the line is drawn at Phil Collins. I realize he has a large fan base; however, this gal is not a member.

He is the bane of my existence.

In fact, I’d goes as far as to say that I’d rather be beaten to death with a bag of hot nickels than to ever hear ‘In The Air Tonight’ again. Seriously.

I can handle the first 30 seconds of a Phil Collins song, but the real problem here is that the minimum length is three minutes. THREE MINUTES? By minute number two I’m ready to perform a self-induced lobotomy.

Ughh, just thinking about Phil Collins makes me nauseous. I have to stop now before I make myself sick.

OMGosh! I know what you mean here. Only, I don’t have issue with Phil Collins. I have issue with… why can’t I ever remember things on command?! Ugh! I will remember and then come back to hum you a few bars, ‘kay? :)

I cannot describe to you just how much I hate Delilah. I hate her with every fiber of my being. The sound of her voice on the radio makes me want to drive my car into a ravine.

I love Phil Collins…but I see what you mean if she’s always recommending him. You actually CAN have too much of a good thing.

You have no idea how much this post made me laugh. You are spot on about Delilah, her with her soothing kind of baritone voice and her recommendations for all kinds of cheesy music.

You’re made of sterner stuff than I am. I can’t even handle 3 seconds, much less 30.
